New Center

Vibe: Big foreboding buildings, but adjacent to a quiet, residential area

• A newly-hot area of town (also where I live), sprawling with diverse food options, great coffee shops, and a few flashy cocktail bars.

Corktown

Vibe: Historic, residential home area with very active main strip of trendy restaurants, bars, condos & shops.

• A mecca west of downtown with great unique eats, eclectic shops, cocktail bars, breweries, dive bars, distilleries and brunch spots. There’s also an axe-throwing place and a bagel shop. Nearby, an adjacent neighborhood has a great bookstore and a music venue.

Midtown (Cass Corridor)

Vibe: Mix of apartment buildings, university buildings, shopping plazas, bars and restaurants and mixed-use buildings.

• The neighborhood that houses Wayne State University also has a bunch of great food and things to do.

Brush Park (South Midtown)

• Neighborhood area that has quickly sprouted a million modern apartment buildings, nearby to sports stadiums and a few bars/restaurants/coffee shops on Woodward Ave.
